Agosto 2019.
Zummy is committed to choosing materials that are environmentally certified, with particular attention to their composition and production process, and sustainable towards the workers who create and process them. The PE collection sees the use of TENCEL™ Lyocell from Lenzing AG (a leader in textile sustainability) that makes up both the fabric and the sewing yarn of caftans, leggings, blouses, scarves and pashminas. Lyocell is eucalyptus fiber sourced from responsibly managed forests. The bags in the collection are made from GOTS-certified organic cotton, both for the outer fabric and the inner lining, while the base on which each bag rests is a pad composed of 96% recycled polyester from bottles collected and recycled after their use. All labels sewn onto the garment are made in Italy in embroidery with GOTS organic cotton yarn. The buttons on the skirt are made of recycled hemp and polyester, while the metal hardware is made of zamak: both come from two suppliers who have joined the Detox Greenpeace pledge. The elastic on the back of the skirt is 74% GRS recycled polyester. The same inks used for the printing of the PE collection enjoy GOTS and OEKOTEX certification to guarantee respect for the workers who created them, consumers and the environment. The print shop is also OEKOTEX certified and reuses part of the same water used previously in the production process.
For its own manufacturing, in the interest of ethical and sustainable fashion, Zummy favors small local artisanal companies, except in the sole case of Fairtrade certified products that come from a foreign company.
Zummy supports a continuous research of new materials, suppliers and processes.
Zummy asks questions, questions, questions of its current and potential suppliers to ensure authentic eco-friendly fashion.
Zummy studies material pairings consistently, to facilitate, where possible, recycling at the end of the product’s life (for example in the case of the caftan where both the fabric and the seams are made of TENCEL™ Lyocell from Lenzing AG)
Zummy uses packaging that contains recycled paper fibers and GOTS certified organic cotton.
August 2019. In different corners of the Planet, fires devastated some of the most important forest areas, threatening ecosystems and killing thousands of animals. The scene of the burned koala rescued by a tourist goes around the world and scientists prophesy the collapse of the entire planet by 2050.
It was at that moment that the founders of Zummy – Gaia and Gloria, mother and daughter – had an intuition: to create a new eco-sustainable fashion brand in which all the products are strictly green and all the suppliers involved demonstrate technical and production requirements in line with the most sincere criteria of sustainability. A few months later ZUMMY was born, with a precise inspiration: to zoom in on Nature, on its beauty and on the urgency to defend it. Zummy proposes itself as a new, original player of sustainable fashion that designs and manufactures ethical clothes and accessories, close to the concept of “slow fashion”, and at the same time full of color and beauty.
